DANCING WITH AND AROUND NEUROLOGICAL MOTOR CHALLENGES — An Interdisciplinary Working Group
The featured project of this group is SYNC [working title], a performance installation for twelve professional dancers moving in perfect synchrony through the aid of an in-ear unifying beat track. A steady rhythmic entrainment of the audience accrues as the dancers organically shift through various spatial patterns while locked into this simple rhythm. This dance has grown out of my work with Princeton professors neuroscientist Sabine Kastner, engineer Naomi Leonard, theater historian Brian Herrera, and neurodiverse participants. In January, we will conduct a study related to this dance and its potential effect on the nervous system of viewers.
